Major project has artifacts traveling to new homes!

Thanks to a grant from the Astle-Alpaugh Family Foundation, a major project to catalog the collections stored at the Society’s archive building has been underway since March. As with many historical societies, often collections unrelated to the organization’s mission end up in collections’ storage. The Society is working to sort and research the provenance of hundreds of artifacts and when applicable–transfer objects to a more relevant home. This early silk flag was originally made in Valdez and has made its way back to Alaska and to the Valdez Museum.
