The Seventh Annual Cemetery Cemenar, slated for Saturday, April 25, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are working to reschedule this program, so please check back on our website for further announcements.

The seventh annual Cemetery Cemener on Saturday, April 25 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race Street in Pittstown HAS BEEN POSTPONED.

Registration check-in starts at 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Joseph Adelman

The key note address titled “A Family Affair: Revolutionary Politics, News and the Women Behind the Press” begins at 11 a.m. and will be given by Dr. Joseph M. Adelman, author of “Revolutionary Networks, The Business and Politics of Printing the News.” Adelman is an Associate Professor at Framingham State University.

Lunch follows at noon and is provided by Jersey Mike’s Subs.
From 1 – 2 p.m. the event will feature several cemetery tours:

  • Revolutionary Gravestones led by John Allen
  • Mary Claypoole (1st wife of David Chambers Claypoole) led by Rhonda Witwer
  • Bonnell Family led by Hank Bonnell, owner of the Bonnell Tavern
  • Civil War Gravestone Tour led by John Kuhl,
  • Robert Taylor Family led by William Honachefsky of the Union Forge Heritage Association.

The event will also have original “General Advertiser” newspapers from 1796 on display from the Hunterdon Historical Society Collection. Dr. Adelman’s book will be available for purchase too.

Please register in advance at The Hunterdon 300th website by April 22. Cost is $10, which includes lunch.
