"Old-Timey" photographs? Well, that is what my daughter called these when she saw the collection the other day... our latest collection release from the HCHS Archives is No. 238, the George Hansen Photograph Collection. The collection consists of 74 photographs, mostly in and around Flemington from the period 1900-1920. The images are approximately 7" x 10". They are mostly well composed and were clearly taken by a trained photographer. Subjects include public buildings, business establishments, railroad stations and rolling stock, residences, streetscapes, and group photographs. The collection should be of interest to anyone interested in Flemington and its inhabitants at the turn of the century. Most of the major buildings are still standing, and many of the identified people in group photographs are of historical interest. The container list can be found on our website here: hunterdonhistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Collection-238-Container-List.pdfSpecial Thanks to archival volunteers John Matsen and Michelle Clinger for arranging and describing this collection! ... We learned today that a local paper published some incorrect information about our upcoming genealogy workshops in its printed publication. Anyway, we wish to assure you that the event will be held virtually. Please don't go to the Archive Building for the program as there won't be anyone there. If you haven't signed up, what are you waiting for? Learn lots of great new stuff with Betty DeSapio in the comfort of your own home! The first program is June 9; the second is June 16. You can sign up via our website www.hunterdonhistory.org. ...
