The Flemington Historic Preservation Commission’s tour features private homes and public buildings that highlight Flemington’s eclectic architecture.

The Hunterdon County Historical Society will open the first floor of its Doric House Museum to tour participants to view our new exhibition.

The private homes and public buildings selected for the tour will provide visitors a view into the eclectic architecture of Flemington, including the largest representation of Victorian architecture outside of Cape May. You’ll also see stunning examples of Greek Revival, Gothic, Colonial and 2nd Empire architecture, for which Flemington is well known. Over 65% of Flemington’s buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This year’s tour currently includes plans for five new homes not included on tours in the past two years.

Highlights for this year include:

–Two Trolleys this year — faster loops, shorter waits, more time to explore everything Flemington has to offer.
–Five new homes not included on the tours in the past two years.
–This year, the tour includes the Old Egg Auction which is beautiful inside.
–The Hunterdon Historical Society will have a “250 Years of Saying I Do” display in the Doric House included on the tour, featuring historic wedding dresses and bridal gifts.
–In addition, there will be returning favorites including the historic Hunterdon County Courthouse where the Lindbergh “Trial of the Century” took place in 1935 along with the historic jail and cell block where Bruno Hauptmann was detained during the trial.
