Deats & Thatcher Archeological Collection

On May 8, Dr. Richard Veit, Professor and Chair of the History and Anthropology Department at Monmouth University, visited the Historical Society to assist with the identification and cataloging of the Deats and Thatcher Archeological Collection.

Thanks to a grant from the Astle-Alpaugh Family Foundation, this amazing collection will soon be added (in part), to the online collection catalog. This collection was amassed by Hiram E. Deats during the 1880s and 1890s. It includes hundreds of local field finds from the collection of John C. Thatcher and interesting artifacts Deats purchased from around the globe. Watch for the new collection launch and educational web pages in August 2018!
