Collections

The Hunterdon County Historical Society (HCHS) Archives is a valuable source of information for those interested in researching Hunterdon County history and genealogy. The HCHS Archives has over 100 (and growing) collections of original manuscripts, maps, photographic images, sound recordings, moving images, and other materials that provide priceless research material for anyone interested in any part of Hunterdon’s rich history.

The types of collections that can be found in the Archives include:

• the papers of citizens and from the County’s past;
• the research and other papers of earlier researchers into Hunterdon genealogy;
• the accumulated papers of long-term resident Hunterdon families;
• original deeds, wills, manumissions, tax records, and other government manuscripts that have been collected over time;
• the records of historic Hunterdon businesses;
• the records of many social and civic organizations;
• and, much, much more!

As part of the Hiram E.
