The Hunterdon County Historical Society announces FREE holiday tours of the Doric House Museum on Saturday, December 4, December 10 and Sunday, December 11 from 1- 5:00 p.m.

Once the 1845 home of master architect Mahlon Fisher, the high-style Greek Revival Doric House will be masterfully decorated by the Garden Club of Hunterdon Hills and the Community Garden Club of Hunterdon County. This is the garden clubs’ sixth year decorating the museum with a Victorian white pearl theme visual in the décor in the main rooms of the three story mansion.

In addition to the decorations, the museum’s second floor Astle-Alpaugh Gallery features a new exhibit of historic Main Street Flemington photos dating from 1889-1905. The images come from a newly processed archival collection of the estate of John F. Schenk and capture the shops, houses, churches and people on Main Street from the turn of the 20th century.

The Society’s research library and headquarters next door to the Museum, at 114 Main Street in Flemington, will be open and decorated for the holidays. The library will feature a selection of new and rare books for sale for perfect gift giving! The library is open every Thursday and the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10:00-4:00 pm.
